Jennifer Barone is originally from Brooklyn, New York where she founded "the Word Party" in her living room. Due to an overwhelming number of creative friends and a few knocks on the door by the local police, she eventually had to branch out to venues in the East Village and finally to San Francisco where she now resides as host of "The Word Party Poetry and Jazz night."

Jennifer has been a featured poet at local readings and numerous venues in San Francisco including: The Randall Museum, The Red Poppy Art House, The Beat Museum, Bird & Beckett Books and Modern Times Bookstore. She was a winner of the SF Public Library's 2007 Poets Eleven city-wide contest. She was also featured as a "Tableux Vivant (living painting)" for the Frida Kahlo exhibition at the SF Museum of Modern Art where she performed original poems in her honor.

She is the author of two collections of poetry, Simple Language, 2003 and Secret City, 2007 - a bi-coastal collaboration with her father's original artwork in response to her poetry. She is currently working on a new poetry and art collection about Italian food and love.
The Word Party

Matt Blesse is a spoken word poet, activist, and educator from the small California mountain paradise of Truckee. A member of two national poetry slam teams, Matt was the Grand Slam Champion of the city of San Francisco in 2008 and placed 3rd in 2009 at the National Poetry Slam. He has toured and taught cross-country for universities, festivals, non-profit trainings, artist collectives, and poetry venues, but still finds the most rewarding audiences to be the youth he works with in his current home, the Bay Area. There he teaches under the Lyrical Minded 415 program and is an active community organizer. He believes spoken word poetry is, at its most basic level, a conversation and, in the larger sense, a movement. As such, he seeks to keep his art relevant to and reflective of his experiences with oppression and transformation.

Mitch Park has been a poet and activist for the last 6 years in the San Francisco Bay Area. His first book "Dead Cities, Dead Streets" has just been published by Meridian Pressworks here in San Fancisco (C) 2010. His art is about more then the release of tension. Its meant to inspire a movement, a revolution, and a better world for all.

Red Jordan Arobateau is an elder, age 67. He is an artist-author and has written 90 books--novels, plays, short story & poetry collections, and journals. soon you will be able to follow his blog online, on blogger.com. Red is a fine arts painter in acrylic & oils He sells prints of his paintings online. Red lives & works in San Francisco. He has done many shows & open mic's around town.

Gallery Three is proud to present “Exhibit A,” the newest body of work by D Young V. This exhibition takes a look at identity from the outside, and through uniform. Please join us for the opening reception of “Exhibit A” at Gallery Three on October 9th, 2010 from 7pm till 11pm.

This exhibit looks through the use of uniform and how personal identity is portrayed through fashion, music, and other forms of culture. The body of work consists of multiple collaborations with San Francisco based artists such as Sean Desmond and C3. D Young V aims to show the importance of community support by building relationships through art, and the art community. D Young V uses photographs of his friends as footnotes and references to use as a basis for his imagery. The narrative that goes along with his art takes place in the future and is about a fallen society trying to rebuild itself through like ideals and common language.

D Young V is a pen and ink artist currently working out of San Francisco’s Tenderloin. Influenced by wheat pastes and graffiti, his monochromatic drawings might be mistaken as a stencil from afar. With a closer look, the extent of his penmanship becomes obvious. His line work is meticulously detailed, illuminating every stroke and process of the piece. D Young V has a BFA in fine arts from Manhattanville College, Purchase, NY and a MFA in painting from the Academy Of Art, San Francisco, CA.  While attending the Academy Of Art his interest in urban art began to influence his works. His roots in punk and sub-youth culture transcends and in many of the ink on archival paper works which have been shown in SF galleries such as Space Gallery and Babylon Falling.

Please join us for the opening reception of “Exhibit A,” a new body of work by D Young V on October 9th 2009, from 7-11pm at Gallery 3. This show will be on exhibit from October 9th through November 6th, 2010 and is open to the public.

Recently featured in the "The San Francisco Underground Poetry" exposition in the historic Evergreen Review, Andrew is a local poet who hopes to replace the good vs evil dichotomy w/ sanity vs hysteria (but w/out the overly moralized leftovers); a place where both perspectives walk hand in hand in an attempt to grant aesthetic relevance to one another w/out demonizing the other.

Featuring at poetry slams (the Green Mill, Slam Nuba, Portland Slam, Van Slam, among others), open mics, college campuses (Oberlin College, Brown University, University of Maryland, UT Austin, etc.), basements, alleyways, dive bar backrooms, queer glitter festivals, and street corners. He has worked with queer youth across the country as well, from Chicago to Portland (About Face, SMYRC, Homo A Go Go, etc) and is interested in cultivating community and identity through spoken poetics.

John Felix Arnold III holds joint citizenship in the Union, the Confederacy, and the Wild West. He was born in Durham, North Carolina, and raised as a child in both Durham and NYC. He made the move to New York City in 1998. He spent eight years (four of which were at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY) exchanging dialogue, making art and observing a city that continually swallowed and vomited the people and things that made up his life before sending him on his way. He moved to San Francisco at the end of 2006 and has lived and worked there for the past four years. Through his paintings he continues to describe the relationships between life's catalytic variables and the propelling static that thrust all things through time and space. He was part of the downtown SF Babylon Falling movement and has quickly become immersed in the Bay Area’s art scene, while still holding undying ties with his family of co-conspirators and loved ones back east. Whether drawing, painting, print making, composing music, or simultaneously doing all these things at the same time; he can be found in his studio giving birth to the amoebic symbiotic forms that exist in his mind.

“Felix” has been exhibited, published, and commissioned in New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland, D.C., Tokyo, San Juan (Puerto Rico), London, Chicago, and his home town of Durham, N.C. He is currently working on exhibitions for Queens Nails Annex, Old Crow, and the North Carolina Museum of Art. He lives in his world of “Future Antiquity” and his next big show at Old Crow in December 2010 is fittingly called, “Unstoppable Tomorrow.”

Looking rather typical

Did a photo shoot yesterday at Space Gallery for David Young V. He's using the stills as reference for his paintings for his show at Gallery Three on Oct 9th. Although they took multiple clicks, not sure which one Dave will actually use. I'd go into more detail about the concept of his current work, but that's coming up in an interview I did with him. Still transcribing, hold ya horses.

Tracy Jones
Born and raised in God’s waiting room (Orlando), Tracy has been writing since middle school, but didn’t decide to dedicate his life to the craft until his senior year in high school when he saw Saul Williams in the documentary SlamNation. Tracy graduated from SUNY Purchase College in 2002 with a degree in Creative Writing. He self-published two books of poetry, I Think Therefore I Am (1999) and still breathing… (2002). He released his debut EP Humancloud Abandonment on Uncommon Records/Stolen Music Imprint (2007). For two years he was a full time writer and contributing editor for Mugshot Magazine. He also freelanced for Metro Pop, Cooleh, Alarm Press and Under Pressure Magazine. He has performed at The Nuyorican Poets Café, Bowery Poetry Club, Bar 13 and various random open mics from Seattle, WA to Orlando, Fl and San Francisco, CA. He has braces and always keeps his pockets full of tissues to wipe his runny nose. He is currently working on his first book of short stories, Birth Is An Invasion Of Privacy.

Charlie Getter
He is a performance poet and a member and co-founder of the group 16th Mission Poets, The Collaborative Arts Insurgency. He has performed on stages in California, the Midwest, New York and Florida. He was prominently featured in the feature length documentary Sweet Onion Salad by Richard Gutierrez. Charlie is one of two editors of the 16th and Mission Review, which the San Francisco Weekly called "some of the best bus reading we've come across in a long time: philosophical, unpretentious, observant, and funny."

Steven Gray
The bio of a bio-chemical accident is hard to figure. I graduated to the realm of personality at some point, or a semi-educated subjectivity. My family moved around a lot when I was growing up, from a small town in Wisconsin to the West Side of Manhattan and back to California where I dug up petrified sharks’ teeth in the San Joaquin Valley. Eventually I was dragged to L.A. in time for high school. L.A. lends itself to alienation, so I countered with hallucination. I lasted longer than I thought I would, and then I headed north in time for turning 21. I was throwing my voice all over town, from Minnie’s Can-Do Bar to various dives in North Beach, San Francisco.

After a while I went underground, or was it into the ivory tower of Montaigne - an apartment on the 4th floor, with the words occurring all too often. On occasion they were crystallizing into structures. Some of them have shown up on my web site: www.telepoetic.com. When I want to get away from words I have a camera and a black acoustic-electric guitar.

I think the written comes alive in mid-air when it’s being shared with other mysterious nervous systems lurking in a spark-gap known as public life. Let’s hear it for the Homeric.

Glynn Washington
Before creating the Snap Judgment radio show, Glynn worked as an educator, diplomat, community activist, actor, political strategist, fist-shaker, mountain-hollerer, and foot stomper. Glynn composed music for the Kunst Stoff dance performances in San Francisco, rocked live spoken word poetry in Detroit, joined a band in Indonesia, wrote several screenplays, painted a daring series of self-portraits, released a blues album, and thinks his stories are best served with cocktails.

DigDug
The Producer behind Agartha Audio has released 2 full length albums on Uncommon Records, both pushing the conceptual envelope. The first being Tales from the Cafetorium which featured, as its stars, a 4th Grade classroom of kids giving their all over Agartha Audio's space funk beat patterns. The kids dropped knowledge on everything from what it's like to live as a cat or to be as fast as a car.

The only way to follow up such cutting edge experimentalism is with more cutting edge experimentalism. This time in the form of The Hollow Earth, which is a concept album revolving loosely around what some may know as the "Reptilian Agenda". Instead of simply offering a one noted conspiracy theory piece, Dig Dug went deeper. He took certain aspects relating to the myths of "Agartha", The Hollow Earth and "The Reptilian Agenda" and wrote out a specific script that became the bedrock for "The Hollow Earth" LP. This script was delivered to each emcee participating, as each was asked to choose a portion of it to claim as theirs. Emcees that are involved in The Hollow Earth include The Presence, Tracy Jones, Nac1, Passive65ive, E. Coli, Crisis Colossus, Mischief Mic, Cam, Gigster and 9th Scientist. All carving out their piece of a world that Dig Dug created.

Dig Dug's Agartha Audio sound has continued to grow as 2010 continues with an incredible remix of fellow Uncommon artist, Taiyamo Denku's, "Mona Lisa (feat. Prince Po of Organized Konfusion)" as well as the semi-covert MF Borat project. He's also Produced tracks for The Presence, Skrilla G Bone, L.I.F.E. Long, and many others.

Dig Dug is also an accomplished artist on canvas as well. His music is regularly featured on the Extreme Sports videos released by All Out Productions and he scored a Documentary film called Fruits of War.
